ABOUT ME:

Hi, I’m Shahrzad, a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Registered Marriage & Family Therapist passionate about helping people better understand themselves, heal from difficult experiences, and create more meaningful, connected lives. I strive to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their experiences, make sense of their struggles, and move toward lasting and meaningful change.

I hold a Master of Arts in Marriage & Family Therapy from Trinity Western University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a focus on neuroscience from University of British Columbia. My background also includes supporting refugee families and individuals with developmental disabilities, experiences that deepened my understanding of resilience, cultural sensitivity, and the importance of individualized care and support. Both personally and professionally, I understand how experiences such as grief, immigration, identity shifts, trauma, and major life transitions can leave people feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck, or uncertain about themselves and their relationships.
I believe many of the ways we cope, protect ourselves, and relate to others make sense within the context of what we have lived through. Therapy can help us better understand these patterns, reconnect with our strengths, and create healthier ways of relating to ourselves and the people around us.

APPROACH:
My approach is collaborative, relational, trauma-informed, and attachment-focused. I integrate approaches such as EFT, IFS, and CBT while tailoring therapy to each client’s unique needs, goals, and strengths. Alongside deeper self-exploration and healing, I also support clients in developing practical tools and strategies that help them create meaningful changes in their daily lives, relationships, emotional well-being, and sense of self.
At the heart of my work is the belief that healing happens through safe connection, self-understanding, and feeling genuinely seen, accepted, and supported. I deeply value diversity and aim to provide an affirming and compassionate environment where people from all backgrounds and identities feel welcome to show up authentically as themselves.

I offer therapy in English, Farsi/Persian, and Turkish, and understand the importance of being able to express ourselves in the language that feels most comfortable and emotionally meaningful.
